Physician and Surgeon
of the
Foot and Ankle

Born and raised in Romeo Michigan, Dr. Alexsandra R. Szajna was a competitive high school athlete graduating from Romeo High School. During her tenure at Romeo she vividly recalls the moment she landed on the defenders foot during a divisional basketball game (you can still find the photo in the Macomb Daily till this day). As Dr. Szajna navigated her ankle injury, she was treated by a team of Podiatrists that were instrumental in her recovery, getting her back on the basketball court. It was this exceptional experience with podiatry, involving her own foot injury and subsequent recovery, that piqued her desire to help others and pursue a career in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.

Dr. Szajna went to Cornerstone University where she completed her undergraduate studies in Biology and Health Sciences. She continued competing in sports as a collegiate athlete. She received many academic and athletic All-American accolades.

Prior to attending medical school, she worked at the Cleveland Clinic Institute and completed medical mission trips to South Africa and the Dominican Republic.

Experiencing international healthcare, gave Dr. Szajna an opportunity to work directly with collegiate soccer teams in Johannesburg and various villages in South Africa. During this volunteer year at the local South African clinic, she ultimately found a true love for podiatric medicine as she helped countless patients with foot and ankle ailments. She saw how getting people back on their feet combined with compassion and empathy gave each patient and member of the village community an ability to continue supporting their family by returning to full function.

Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Szajna matriculated and received her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery from Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. While attending medical school, Dr Szajna stood as an ambassador and tutor for her peers and future physicians.

Dr. Szajna went on to complete a 3 year surgical residency specializing in Foot and Ankle surgical at the University of Florida - Jacksonville Level I Trauma center. Recognizing her outstanding clinical and leadership abilities she was elected and served as chief resident.

Dr. Szajna is passionate about podiatric medicine and surgery with special interest in sports injuries, reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle, minimally invasive surgery, diabetic foot, as well as trauma of the foot and ankle.

Dr. Szajna is excited to be back home in Michigan with family and friends and to share her expertise with patients, getting them back on their feet!
